Why this is rare

Most people are a strategist or a builder. Almost no one is both.

The people who set the agentic AI direction usually cannot build it. The people who can build rarely own the strategy. So strategy stalls in a slide deck, and builds solve the wrong problem. The person who closes that gap, who can decide what is worth building and then ship it, is who leadership actually needs and almost never has. In one month, that person is you.

The strategist without the build
Sets direction, writes the brief, then waits on a technical team that is busy with three other priorities. The window closes.
By the end of the month
AI Strategist & Builder
The builder without the strategy
Ships an agent fast, then discovers it automated a workflow no one validated. Effort spent, impact missing.
What you earn the right to claim

Two titles. One month. One certificate with your name on it.

This is not a course you watch and forget. You leave able to do both halves of the job, with a certificate from Harvard Data Science Initiative that says so, on your profile, in the room, and to the people who decide what you work on next.

Your name

has completed the Becoming a Dual Leader: AI Strategist & Builder Intensive, designing an agentic AI strategy and building a working prototype.

Issued by Harvard Data Science Initiative
Strategist
You decide what is worth building

Apply the A.G.E.N.T framework to your own organization. Identify the highest-value workflow, set scope and governance, and judge any agentic AI proposal on its merits rather than its hype.

& Builder
You ship the working thing

Configure a working prototype against your real systems with Claude and n8n. Test the failure modes, document the build, and walk into the room with something that runs, not something you hope to run.

The signal is the point. Anyone can say they understand AI. Far fewer can show a Certificate from Harvard Data Science Initiative, a working prototype they built, and the judgment to know which workflows deserved one. That combination is what the title carries.

And two digital badges, one for each title you earn, ready for your LinkedIn profile.

Who's in the room

You build alongside the people who own the AI question.

Past cohorts run from senior managers, directors, and VPs to C-suite leaders and independent consultants, the people their organization, or their clients, turn to when the AI question lands on the table. Several of the strongest builds have come from non-technical leaders, so a technical background is welcome but not required.

What senior leaders say

The best executive course I have ever attended. Truly transformative.

I joined after my first Agentic AI intensive to build the project I started. With each session my confidence in both the tools and myself increased. The project I have been able to create, through the class and Claude Cowork, has been truly amazing.

For a senior executive and advisor, it is the right balance of in-depth knowledge and true practical application to inform decision making at the executive or board level.

How the month works

Design it, build it, demonstrate it.

The first half makes you a strategist. The second half makes you a builder. Live sessions with Harvard Data Science Review board members and authors anchor each phase; the rest is your own work, with AI guidance between sessions.

Phase one
Weeks 1–2.5 · Strategy
Design the strategy
Apply the A.G.E.N.T framework to your business. Identify the highest-value workflow, define scope and constraints, and produce an implementation brief your team can act on.
Phase two
Weeks 2.5–5 · Build
Build the prototype
In studio, translate the strategy into architecture and configure the workflow against your real systems. Iterate, handle the failure modes, and document every decision.
Showcase
Final week · Demonstrate
Prove it works
Run a live demo, finalize your build document, and prepare the pitch you take back to ask for budget, a team, or the green light to scale.
You build with Claude · n8n · Cursor · Paski tools you keep and carry back to your organization
Proof, not notes

You leave with evidence you can show.

1
A working agentic AI prototype
Configured against your real organizational context, not a sandbox, and tested against the failure modes specific to your workflow.
2
The B.U.I.L.D document
Architecture, integration map, tool decisions, governance, and deployment plan. The artifact you hand to your CTO.
3
A stakeholder pitch
A short demo anchored on what your prototype actually did, for the room where you ask for budget.
4
The certificate and the badges
A Certificate from Harvard Data Science Initiative, plus two profile badges that name you an AI Strategist and an AI Builder.

Questions, answered
Do I need to be technical?
No. The program is built for senior professionals, including non-technical leaders. Most participants build their prototype by configuring tools rather than writing code. Those who do code can extend the same stack.
I have already completed the Agentic AI Intensive. Do I start over?
No. The Agentic AI Intensive is the strategy half of this program, so you have already earned the AI Strategist title and that work carries straight into the build. You join the build studio to turn your strategy into a working prototype and earn your Certificate from Harvard Data Science Initiative as an AI Strategist and Builder, at a reduced rate for returning participants. Email enrollments@hdsrcourses.org and we will confirm your path and pricing.
What does the certificate actually say?
It is a Certificate from Harvard Data Science Initiative for the 1 Month AI Strategist and Builder Intensive. It records that you designed an agentic AI strategy and built a working prototype during the program.
How much time will it take each week?
Live sessions are short and scheduled. The majority of your time goes to your own strategy and build work between sessions, at your pace, with AI guidance and faculty support. The build half is more hands-on than the strategy half.
What if I cannot deploy the prototype in production?
You are not expected to. You leave with a working prototype configured against your real context, plus the build document and pitch to take the next step inside your organization on your own timeline.
Can I bring colleagues from my organization?
Yes. Working group rates are available for groups from the same organization. Contact enrollments@hdsrcourses.org.
Is it really refundable?
Yes, up until the program starts. Applying early holds your place without locking you in, and you can withdraw for a full refund any time before the start date.
